Ground broken for new care facility in Gonzales

Community Opportunities of East Ascension held a ground-breaking ceremony Thursday morning for the Ascension Eldercare Center and Ascension Respite Center, located at 1206 S. Purpera Ave., Gonzales.

Several people gathered Thursday morning on a vacant field along South Purpera Avenue in Gonzales to officially break ground on Community Opportunities of East Ascension's Ascension Eldercare Center and Ascension Respite Center.

Local dignitaries attended the ceremony to help COEA officially get the project started.

Following the ceremony, refreshments were served.

The facility will be located at 1206 S. Purpera Ave., Gonzales.
