AARP Chapter 1449's motto is To Serve and Not Be Served.

On March 5, Chapter 1449 helped volunteer at the Gonzales Health Care Center during their Mardi Gras Celebration.

Members of the chapters helped residents at the center be a part of the celebration by helping to push attendees in wheelchairs during the second line. Additionally, they helped to serve king cake and punch.

The chapter typically chooses between Gonzales Health Care and Ascension Oaks to volunteer at. These facilities were chosen because it is where they could afford to volunteer when purchasing cake, punch, and occasional gifts with their limited budget.

The group rotates from one center to the next each month, celebrating special occasions and monthly birthday bashes.
