The St Amant Lady Gator softball team ran its record to 11-1 with a clean sweep at the St Amant Invitational.

To begin the week, the Gators raced out to a big win over the Zachary Broncos, 16-1. Alyssa Romano tossed four innings, allowing one run, while striking out seven. Rylee Rossi and Julia Kramer each had five RBIs to lead the way in offense.

Next up was the district opener against St Joseph’s Academy, and the Gators picked up where they left off against Zachary, scoring in bunches for a 16-0 victory. Romano tossed a complete-game shutout , striking out five and only allowing one hit. Kramer, Rossi and Payton Granier all had three hits to lead the way, and Granier and Rossi each drove in four runs.

The Lady Gators opened up the St Amant invitational with a nail-biting 1-0 victory over St Louis Catholic. Romano was tough in the circle, striking out 13 and allowing only two hits in the complete-game shutout. Offense was hard to muster, but Kailey Dufour launched a solo home run in the fifth inning for all the run support Romano would need.

A rematch with the Zachary Broncos was up next, and the Lady Gators found victory a little tougher this time, escaping with a 4-3 victory. Runs were again tough to come by as both pitchers held each team in check. Romano struck out nine in her 10th complete game of the season. Addie Bourgeois and Sophie Smith each had two hits, and Granier knocked in two runs to lead the way at the plate for St Amant.

The final game of the tournament saw the offense finally ignite in a 10-0 victory over Vanderbilt Catholic. Romano tosses a two-hit shutout, and the Gators closed the game out in five. Nayalie Rodriguez launched a two-run home run to put the game out of reach. while Romano, Kramer and Smith each drove in two runs. Bourgeois and Rossi also notched two hits apiece.

St. Amant added a 5-2 victory over Walker on Monday.

The Lady Gators sit at 12-1 ,1-0 in district and hit the Lady Gator Park diamond for games against Dutchtown and McKinley, before hitting the road to Sulphur for three games in the Sulphur tournament this weekend.
