Monday through Friday the coffee shop coined the "Full of Grace Cafe," opens at 6 a.m. Additionally, a food pantry opens at 8:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

Although the food pantry has been open since December, today was the first day food was served.

Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Saint Amant has opened it's doors for the poor, and the rich, to come together and enjoy meals when they need it. Monday through Friday the coffee shop coined the "Full of Grace Cafe," opens at 6 a.m. Additionally, a food pantry opens at 8:30 a.m., Monday through Thursday.

Other times are available upon appointment with the church. Those in need must simply let the church know when they need assistance.

The cafe plans to also be open on Tuesdays for dinner, Thursdays for lunch, and Saturdays for breakfast. Saturday is dependent on volunteers for now, though.

Aside from the food, there is also a barber room. Those who cannot afford a haircut can get one for free by appointment. Barbers in the community offer their services to help get someone back on their feet. A photo of Mary Magdalene hangs in this room, because she dried the feet of Jesus, just as those at the church can do for those in need.

Another part of the building includes the Lady of Grace diaper bank. This originally began in a parishioners garage, but became so much more. In that same room, there is a shower area for those who may need one.

Near the kitchen area is a blessing bags room. Here, people will come together to create bags that are filled with prayer cards, food, gift cards, and information on where someone can receive help if they need it. These are handed out to people who are usually on the side of the road, or under highways.

There is also a discipleship room, where people can come together and discuss the word of God through bible studies. For friendly competition, there is a pool table that guests can play. In the future, the church hopes to have nuns living next to the discipleship room.

"We invite families to the cafe so we can spend intentional time with them," Pastor Fr. Joshua Johnson of Holy Rosary Catholic Church said. "The community is so helpful with this, too. It's great to see them want to give their gifts to the poor."

Another room at the front of the building includes a counseling and meeting room. In this area, people can meet with lawyers, seek advice on pregnancies, discuss fertility issues, and so much more. It offers a reclined chair for those seeking help to rest on as they figure out which paths they may need to steer.

Other improvements to the church include a nursery for the 9 a.m. mass and an outdoor prayer space. These are just a few ideas that Johnson shared, though, that he hopes the church will be growing and improving on soon.

"Funding for all of this came from the flood insurance of 2016, as well as from the festival money that we raised last year," Fr. Johnson said. "We already had a CRC account, which services the poor. Then, all of the furniture that you see in these rooms has been graciously donated. We only really have to keep up with the light bill now."
