Annually, LOWA honors the anglers voted by the LOWA Fish Records Committee to have had the most significant catch in the previous year in both Rod & Reel and Fly Fishing Divisions.
Two well-deserving Louisiana anglers will be presented with the Louisiana Outdoor Writers Association’s (LOWA) prestigious Fish of the Year Awards 2017 at the LOWA annual convention in Gonzales on August 10 and 11.
Annually, LOWA honors the anglers voted by the LOWA Fish Records Committee to have had the most significant catch in the previous year in both Rod & Reel and Fly Fishing Divisions. The winners will receive their awards Saturday night, August 11, at the LOWA Awards Banquet, held at the Clarion Inn Conference Center in Gonzales.
Winners for the 2017 LOWA Fish of Year are:
Top angler that will be recognized in the Rod & Reel Division; Chris Legrand of Slidell, La. will receive the 2017 Fish of the Year award in the Rod & Reel Division. Legrand’s 140.00 Greater Amberjack caught on the Horseshoe Lump out of Venice, La. is a new state record.
In the Fly Fishing Division, Michael Clark of Hanahan, S.C. will be presented the award for his feat of landing a 9.66 Sheepshead caught at the MRGO.
