All in all, our family of weekly newspapers took home 19 awards at this years Louisiana Press Association banquet.
The Louisiana Press Association honored the editorial and advertising staff of our trio of newspapers for both print and online categories at this year's luncheon in New Orleans. The Chief, Citizen and Post South all fall under Division 4.
Reporter Halen Doughty placed 1st place and in 3rd place in the Sam Hanna Award category for her regular column in the Weekly Citizen and The Donaldsonville Chief.
Editor Greg Fischer and past intern Stephen S. Gaines placed 2nd in the Gibbs Adams Award category for Best Investigative Reporting. Editor Greg Fischer also placed 1st for Best Photo Package.
Sports Editor Kyle Riviere placed 3rd for Best Sports Column. Contributor Tammy Gaudin placed 2nd in the Best Sports Photo category.
The staff of The Chief was awarded 1st place for Best Staff Generated Ad, and the Post South was awarded 3rd in the same category for work by Aanifa Leblanc, Jo Lynn Burns, and Crystal Barrett. The Weekly Citizen placed 3rd for Best Ad Campaign for work by Martine Duhe, Crystal Barrett, and Aanifa Leblanc.
Furthermore, the Post South and The Chief were awarded 2nd and 3rd place respectively in the category of Best Multiple Advertiser Page. The Post South crew consisted of Aanifa Leblanc, Jo Lynn Burns, and Crystal Barrett, while The Chief crew here consisted of Aanifa Leblanc, Bob Prejean, and Crystal Barrett.
Next, in the category of Best Overall Website the Post South placed 2nd, and The Chief and Weekly Citizen websites tied for 3rd. The Gonzales Weekly Citizen also placed 2nd and in 3rd for the category of Best Web Project.
The Weekly also took 2nd and 3rd place for Best Online Advertising - Single Ad. The 2nd place award went to Aanifa Leblanc, Jo Lynn Burns, and Crystal Barrett. The 3rd place award went to Crystal Barrett and Jason Wall.
Finally, The Donaldsonville Chief was awarded 1st place for Best Special Section. All in all, our family of weekly newspapers took home 19 awards at this years Louisiana Press Association banquet.
