Troopers from Louisiana State Police Troop L are asking the public for assistance in locating a vehicle involved in a hit and run crash that has left a cyclist injured. The crash occurred this morning at approximately 5:58 a.m.on LA 16 near the Kleinpeter Dairy Farm east of Pine Grove. Troopers are looking for a gold colored early 2000 Ford F-150 bearing a Mississippi license plate.
The preliminary on scene investigation led Troopers to determine that the crash occurred as the F-150 was traveling westbound on LA 16. The truck entered the eastbound lane in an attempt to pass several westbound vehicles. After entering the eastbound lane, the truck’s driver side mirror struck the cyclist, who was traveling east on the eastbound shoulder. The cyclist was ejected on impact and suffered moderate injuries. He was transported to North Oaks Hospital in stable condition.
Physical evidence gathered from the scene as well as witness statements led Troopers to believe that the suspect vehicle is possibly a gold colored early 2000 Ford F-150 bearing a Mississippi license plate. The driver was described as a white male between the ages of 25-30 accompanied by another white male approximately the same age. The driver of the F-150 did stop briefly before fleeing the scene toward Pine Grove.
