There’s no place like home.

The St. Amant wrestling team will finally be able to practice in their on-campus practice facility after Dollamur Sport Surfaces gave their gym a makeover.

There was an official ribbon cutting ceremony this morning that was attended by the team, head coach Brian Hess, St. Amant Athletic Director David Oliver, Principal Mia Edwards, Ascension Public Schools Superintendent David Alexander, Dollamur Senior Vice President Dave Rossi and U.S. Olympic wrestler and Dollamur ambassador Adeline Gray.

The ribbon was cut by Gray and former Gator wrestling head coach Ernest Brown.

This was the result of Dollamur’s #MatMakeover contest that selected one wrestling program in America to make over their gym. To enter, teams had to submit a photo or video through various social media sites.

There were 100 entries, and St. Amant was ultimately selected. The Gators’ story of having to recover from the catastrophic August flood was too strong for the voters to ignore.
