Dr. Richard Rayborn II, Pastor of The Christian Assembly Full Gospel Church in Gonzales held “The Blessing of the Backpacks” Prayer and Dedication on Sunday, Sept. 11 at the 10:30 a.m. Worship Service. The Prayer and Dedication Service served as a reminder to our youth to put first things first and everything else will line up and they will have a prosperous and successful school year.

The Bible tells us in Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” This new school year has presented some challenges for our kids with the floods and loss of schools, homes, businesses and property. So, what better way to start the new school year off with the Blessing of the Backpacks? Over 80 students of all ages, educators and administrators from local schools were present for this very timely Service. A good start makes a good finish!

Our students standing at the altar are ready to receive God’s blessings and they commit themselves to studying and learning in the new school year," Rayborn said.

He asked God’s blessings on each of the students, educators and administrators. He further asked blessings on the backpacks and school bags our students will carry to school each day. The “Blessing of the Backpacks” served as a reminder to our students of the love and care of TCA (The Christian Assembly) congregation surrounds them with each school day. We are in daily prayer for our schools, students, educator, administrator and everyone involved with the education system.
