An integral part of the Ascension Publication's sales team is retiring this week after 26 years.

Anna McVea has worked as an advertising sales representative stationed in Gonzales at the Weekly Citizen since 1990. Prior to the newspaper, she worked as a cosmetologist in Baton Rouge.

Upon retiring, McVea plans to do things she has never had time to do before such as travel, learn new hobbies, attend lunch groups with her friends and be a full-time grandmother. She also plans to go on a shopping trip with her daughter, Sunny Lynne, to New York City.

"I want to thank all of my loyal customers that I have served for the past 26 years. It has been a pleasure working with each and everyone of you, you have been like family to me," McVea said. "I am retiring and my last day working for the Weekly Citizen, TheDonaldsonville Chief and the Plaquemine Post South will be Friday, Sept. 16. I love each and everyone of my co-workers and will miss all of you very much. Thank you and God Bless."
