Today, Gov. John Bel Edwards released the following statement on his private meeting with President Barack Obama where he briefed the president on the on-going flood relief efforts in Louisiana:

“This morning, I had the opportunity to meet with President Obama to update him on the flood relief efforts in Louisiana and to stress the needs of our state during this critical period of recovery. As we continue to work with Congress in the coming days, I want to thank the president and the Louisiana delegation for their efforts to secure necessary relief funds for our state. We still have work to do, but I'm optimistic that we will get Louisiana citizens the assistance they need to rebuild by continuing to work together.”
