-Take the kids to storytime: The Ascension Parish Library is hosting pajama storytime, designed for children ages seven and under. Librarians will read stories, sing songs and make crafts to take home with the children. The event will be held on Sept. 8 at 6:30 p.m. at the Gonzales and Galvez branch and on Sept. 13 at the Dutchtown branch.

- Crochet the night away: The Dutchtown branch is holding Crocheting with Compassion on Sept. 8 at 6 p.m. The program, led by Gerry Stark, will be repurposing plastic shopping bags into weather resistant sleeping mats that can be used by people who are homeless or living on the streets.

-Learn about underage substance abuse: The Gonzales branch is holding a underage substance use presentation on Sept. 19 at 6 p.m. A panel of experts will help parents learn the legal responsibilities, medical safety and concerns with underage substance use in Ascension Parish.
