Upper Iowa University
Upper Iowa University has announced its Dean's List for the 2016 Spring semester. To be honored, a student must have earned a minimum 3.5 grade point average for the semester and be enrolled as a full-time student.
The honorees included Anitra Brooks of Gonzales and Qjuana Singleton of Prairieville.
Furman University awarded 598 undergraduate and master's degrees and presented its top academic honors during graduation exercises Saturday, May 7.
Among the graduates was Alise Alexander of Prairieville.
U.S. Air Force
U.S. Air Force Airman Malik R. Vandiver graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training also earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Vandiver is the son of Lewisa S. Levy of Gonzales and Sean K. Vandiver of Zachary, step-son of Kewanda Vandiver of Zachary and Michael Levy of Gonzales, and grandson of Panithia Johnson and Constance Spears of Zachary. He is also the brother of Truli Levy and Sean Vandiver Jr.
The airman graduated in 2015 from East Ascension High School.
Louisiana Forestry Foundation
The Louisiana Forestry Foundation awarded 45 scholarships to college students for the 2016- 17 academic year totaling $54,500.
The scholarships were awarded to students who are majoring in forestry at Louisiana Tech University, Louisiana State University and the Oakdale Technical College. They will receive funds from the endowed named scholarships that provide income without using the principal of the fund that created the scholarship. The Foundation has awarded about $819,000 in scholarships since it began in 1969.
LSU senior Holden Simoneaux, of Prairieville, was awarded the Roy O. Martin Jr. Scholarship.
Northwestern State University
Northwestern State University released the names of 528 students named to the President’s List for the Spring 2016 semester. Students on the President’s List must be enrolled full-time at Northwestern State and have a grade point average of 4.0.
Ascension students who have claimed the honor are Julie Breaux, Katelyn Marchand and Rebecca Marchand of Gonzales; Shelby Andre, Melissa Bailey, Meagan Brown, Julianna Carmouche, Madison Coleman, Jakalyn Hills and Brooke Thompson of Prairieville.
Students on the Dean's List must be enrolled full-time and have earned a grade point average between 3.5 and 3.99.
Ascension students who earned the honor are Olivia Bridges, Juliana Coletti, Bryn Hughes and Nicole Jones of Gonzales; Carly Bourgeois, Gracyn Migues, Otha Nelson and Regan Wild of Prairieville; Alyssa Buker, Brandon Hairrell and Hally Lambert of St. Amant; Denicia Thompson of Sorrento.
Tulane University awarded degrees to nearly 3,000 graduates on May 14 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
Ascension Parish residents who received their degrees include Desmond Graves and Erin Riley of Geismar; Thomas Jackson, Timothy Wilson and Nicholas Davison of Gonzales; Thomas Keith, Brittany Smith and Charles Doofe of Prairieville.
