It was a successful year for parish track with one team in Ascension Catholic taking home a state title in the girl's division and the boys finishing in eighth.

With such great finishes, it was no surprise when many parish track stars were named to the All-State team.

With such great finishes, it was no surprise when many parish track stars were named to the All-State team.

Ascension Catholic was the most well-represented.

Their boy's team had an eighth-place finish at the state meet and much of that was to the credit of Yale signee Zach Capello.

Capello was named All-State for both the 1,600 and the 3,200. His best time in the 1,600 was four minutes and 20.70 seconds while his best 3,200 time was nine minutes and 25.54 seconds.

Capello won state titles in both events this year. It was the fourth year in a row he has pulled off that feat.

For the girls, Ascension Catholic's Maerys Joseph was named All-State. Joseph helped lead her team to a state title as she set a new 1A record at the state meet.

That record time of two minutes and 16.57 seconds in the 800 was enough to win her a state title in the event.

Donaldsonville had one All-State selection in Floyd Foster. Foster won a state title this year in the discus as he earned a measurement of 159 feet and four inches--which was 17 feet better than the next best competitor.

The Tigers ended up finishing 17th at the state meet.

The final parish track star to make the All-State squad was East Ascension's Ariane Williams.

The Southeastern signee made the All-State squad for the 400.

Her best time in the event was 55.81--which was at the state meet. That was good enough to earn her a third-place finish.

Williams also finished fifth in the 100 at the state meet. She earned third-place finishes in both events at the regional meet, and she won the two events at the District 5-5A meet.

The East Ascension girls finished 21st at the state meet.
