New campaign to encourage Louisiana natives to return home to discover new job opportunities

Today, Louisiana Economic Development, or LED, launched Come Home, Louisiana – a new, nationwide campaign to encourage former Louisiana residents to return to their home state to explore new employment opportunities across a wide range of industries. Come Home, Louisiana is directly tied to LED’s new free website, LouisianaJobConnection.com, which matches the skills of job seekers with the best available Louisiana jobs.

The campaign is primarily targeted to former Louisiana residents who have left the state, as well as others who hold an affinity for Louisiana. Come Home, Louisiana features a series of videos that tell the stories of real Louisiana residents who left the state, but later returned home for a great career, witnessing Louisiana’s new opportunities firsthand.

Current Louisiana residents are called upon to participate in the campaign as well. Louisiana residents are encouraged to “like” and “share” the Come Home, Louisiana videos and e-cards across a wide variety of outlets, including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter using #ComeHomeLA. Current residents can even contribute their own come back stories to the campaign via social media. Additionally, Come Home, Louisiana will also include a postcard campaign for current residents to encourage friends and family members to return home for food, family and fulfilling careers using specially marked postcards.

The campaign complements the launch of Louisiana Job Connection, which was created to meet the increasing demand for talent within the state from Louisiana employers. In June, LED launched LouisianaJobConnection.com, connecting the skills of job seekers with the best available Louisiana jobs. From engineers and machinists to software designers and accountants, Louisiana Job Connection already features a wide spectrum of available positions.

Louisiana Job Connection automatically matches job seekers with jobs for which they are most qualified. To date, the site has more than 12,000 jobs seekers signed up and more than 950 employers posting available positions. With thousands of open positions already posted to the site, LED anticipates many more jobs will be posted in coming months. Companies that have recently announced investments in Louisiana – including IBM, Bell Helicopter, CSC, Danos and CGI – are poised to post new job availabilities as their respective Louisiana-based offices and facilities come online and launch commercial operations.
