Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Detectives arrested Irvin Mitchell, 32, of Baton Rouge on Thursday, August 7 for drug possession.

According to Chief Tony Bacala, detectives observed a drug deal taking place in a local unnamed business parking lot on Thursday night.  Narcotics detectives observed the drug transaction and followed the vehicle down Highway 621 in Prairieville to conduct a traffic stop. As the vehicle was coming to a stop, the passenger side door opened and a male suspect took off running from the vehicle.

A short while later detectives apprehended the passenger and he was identified as 24-year old Austin Roddy.

Irvin Mitchell, 32, of 8746 Elvin Drive, apt 6, Baton Rouge, was arrested and charged with three counts distribution or possession with intent to distribute heroin, illegal possession of stolen firearms, failure to appear in court, and possession of firearm by person convicted of certain felonies.

Austin Roddy, 24, of 13343 Roddy Road, Gonzales, was arrested and charged with resisting an officer and criminal trespassing.

Both were booked into the Ascension Parish Jail awaiting bond.
