At approximately 9:30 p.m. last night, Thursday, January 9, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Old Mill Drive in Geismar of a possible residential burglary in progress, according to Chief Deputy Tony Bacala.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. last night, Thursday, January 9, deputies were dispatched to a residence on Old Mill Drive in Geismar of a possible residential burglary in progress, according to Chief Deputy Tony Bacala. The homeowner advised that she heard a loud bang with male voices saying “open the door.” The homeowner said that two black males were attempting to break into her residence kicking in the door. When a young girl in the residence screamed, the suspects returned to their vehicle and left the residence. The homeowner was able to provide a description of at least one of the subjects and provide a description of the vehicle that the suspects fled the scene in. Deputies spotted the white Ford Explorer traveling North on LA 73 near Dutchtown High School and attempted to conduct a traffic stop. However, the suspects fled and lead deputies on a high speed pursuit into Baton Rouge where East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office, Baton Rouge Police Department, and Louisiana State Police officers joined in the pursuit. Throughout the pursuit, the suspects disregarded various traffic laws. The pursuit ended in the vicinity of the intersection of Sherwood Forest Boulevard and Florida Boulevard where the suspects abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. Deputies began chasing the suspects on foot and East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies apprehended Thomodrick Johnson, 21, of 11445 Bard Ave., Baton Rouge. Johnson was found hiding behind a residence on Pamela Drive. When deputies approached Johnson he began striking the deputy several times in the chest to attempt to escape deputies. A short while later deputies located the second suspect, 32-year-old Alvin Lemon Jr., of 8320 Cecil Drive, Watson hiding in a nearby apartment. East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s deputies charged Johnson with resisting an officer with force and fugitive from Ascension Parish and charged Lemon Jr. with fugitive from Ascension Parish, aggravated flight from officer, reckless operation of vehicle, damage to property, and resisting an officer. Both men are currently being held in the East Baton Rouge jail. In Ascension Parish they face charges of home invasion, aggravated flight from officer, and resisting an officer from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office.
