Gonzales Weekly Citizen Editor Charlotte Guedry has been challenged by local State Trooper Russell Graham to take the Polar Plunge for Special Olympics, and she has given a resounding yes.

During a recent, weekly taping of EATEL's Community Connection television program with Jenny Heroman, Trooper Graham announced that Guedry would jump into the lake at Cabela's during the Polar Plunge one time for each $100 raised in her name.

Guedry had no idea of the challenge, but readily accepted.

"Special Olympians are some of the bravest, hardest working athletes I have ever encountered," she said. "To do something for them; something that will truly make a difference for them, is the least any of us can do, even if it means getting a bit wet in the process!"

Currently, Guedry is up to three jumps, as $300 has been raised from the community. Graham and his wife Shelly are also jumping, and money can be donated in their names, as well. You can also visit the Gonzales Weekly Citizen Facebook page, leaving your details if you'd like to pledge for Guedry, and someone will get in touch with you.

If you would like to donate, contact Louisiana Special Olympics giving the name of who you would like to see take the plunge, by going online to laso.org, where you will be guided to the correct page.

Also, if you would like to take the plunge yourself, you can find all information on the laso.org page.
