At aproximately 6:45 a.m. Monday morning, one of the oxygen gas cylinders being filled at the Airgas plant in Geismar ruptured when a cylinder failed, accordng to Vice President of Human Resources Robert Budah.


At aproximately 6:45 a.m. Monday morning, one of the oxygen gas cylinders being filled at the Airgas plant in Geismar ruptured when a cylinder failed, accordng to Vice President of Human Resources Robert Budah.

"Two of our workers were injured in the blast," he said. "They were immediatley taken to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital in Baton Rouge where they were treated."

The plant was immediatley shut down while an investigation into the accident took place.

"We are expecting to reopen by the mmiddle of this week," said Budah.

No gas or toxins escaped into the air during the accident.
