(Attachment A)  It was moved by Mr. Nickens and seconded by Mrs. Davis to accept the above mentioned resolution.  The following vote was taken:   Yeas: Bourgeois, Davis, Diez, Gautreau, Kleinpeter, Nickens, Pearce, Russo, Wimberly Nays:  None Absent:  Murphy   The motion passed.   Mr. Price thanked Mrs. Pujol and Mrs. Russo for a great job in preparing this resolution.   Mr. Westbrook updated the board on the school turnaround zone.  It has been up and running since April 11.  Mr. Westbrook introduced the following teams who were at the meeting tonight: Donaldsonville Primary – Ms. Marydine Emery, Mrs. Martha Babin, Mrs. Amy Dunn-ISP Lowery Elementary – Ms. LaKesa Dixon, Mrs. Erin Babin-ISP Lowery Middle – Mrs. Monica Hills, Mr. O’neil Robinson, Mrs. Erin Babin-ISP Donaldsonville High – Dr. Esrom Pitre, Mr. Steve Westbrook-ISP Pecan Grove Primary – Mrs. Marjorie Meyers, Ms. Candace Wikman, Mrs. Sheila Savoy-ISP Gonzales Primary – Bridget Boudreaux-ISP Gonzales Middle – Ms. Lori Charlet, Ms. Jennifer Tuttleton-ISP   Mr. Westbrook noted that in order for the turnaround office to work, we must have very effective teachers and administrators.  These employees are here to say that the success or failure of this program is their responsibility.  We have contracted with Teach for America to enhance the ability to attract the best teachers.  Non-tenured teachers who have not met the standards of Ascension Parish Schools have not been asked to return to turnaround schools.   Some staff has been reassigned to match the culture of their assigned school. Sorrento Primary School’s substantial completion will allow the official opening ceremony to take place soon.   A listing of the State Special Olympics winners was sent from Mrs. Vaughn. NSBA Southern Region Conference will be held July 13-15.  Deadline for housing reservations is June 10.  Please let Robbin know if you plan to attend.   Under Board Comments, Mrs. Wimberly thanked everyone, the board members, Superintendent, and all of the schools for their support of her husband’s recovery.
