A fire at Lutcher High School Football Stadium on Nov. 15 caused in excess of $200,000 in damages, State Fire Marshall H. “Butch” Browning said in a release.

At 1:23 a.m., a Lutcher Police officer on patrol discovered smoke and fire coming from the lower level of the home side bleacher of the football field, Browning said.

The Lutcher Fire Department responded and within twenty minutes controlled the blaze, which damaged several rooms and the attic underneath the stadium seating.

Browning said time the fire is believed to be suspicious and the investigation by his office is underway.

Fire Marshal inspectors will also inspect the structural integrity of the building to see if it is safe for occupancy of a possible Lutcher High School home game in the state footbnall playoffs on Nov. 26.
