The River Parishes Community College family continues to express its condolences regarding the death of Joshua Wallace, a 19-year-old student who died during an incident earlier today in the electric line technician program.


The River Parishes Community College family continues to express its condolences regarding the death of Joshua Wallace, a 19-year-old student who died during an incident earlier today in the electric line technician program.

The incident is still under investigation by the Sorrento Police Department as well as the RPCC administration.

Classes will resume at the RPCC – Ascension Campus on Monday, Nov.1 at 7 a.m. Grief counselors will be on site to offer student and staff support.

“This is such a devastating and emotional situation for everyone,” said RPCC Chancellor Joe Ben Welch. “At this time, we want to ensure our students, faculty, and staff receive the support and counseling they need to be able to cope. We will provide counseling services for as long as it is needed.”

The electric line technician program is currently suspended pending completion of the investigation.
