Dutchtown travels this week to meet another top-ten foe in East St. John.

The fourth-ranked Griffins (8-0, 3-0) face No. 6 East St. John (8-0, 3-0), the only other undefeated team in District 6-5A.

Dutchtown gave Hahnville (6-1, 2-1) its first loss last week, taking a 13-10 win.

The Griffins have used a stingy defense in staying perfect so far. They have held their last four opponents to 10 points or less.

The Dutchtown offense has been powered up front by its imposing veteran line. Running back Effrem Reed has been one of the top rushers in the area with 1,195 yards and 20 touchdowns so far. Quarterback Leon Blouin has compiled 679 yards.

East St. John boasts one of the top receivers in the state in D’haquille Williams. He has 30 catches for 893 yards and 14 touchdowns.

The Wildcats are led by interim coach Ronald Barrilleaux. Former coach Larry Dauterive resigned Oct. 22 after making controversial remarks in a speech at the New Orleans Quarterback Club.

Last week East St. ?John took a 49-14 victory over Destrehan. Junior quarterback Darion Monroe passed for three touchdowns and ran for another score in the win.
