The Dutchtown Griffins have some major tests on the way as a pair of top 10 teams round out the schedule.

Third-ranked Dutchtown (7-0, 2-0) will host No. 8 Hahnville (5-1) in a homecoming contest this week. Then the Griffins travel to take on  No. 6 East St. John (7-0) prior to wrapping the regular season slate against parish rival East Ascension.

Those three opponents stand in the way of Dutchtown achieving an undefeated season.

The Griffins are fresh off of a 42-6 win over parish foe St. Amant last week.

Against the Gators, Dutchtown’s offense compiled 337 rushing yards. Senior running back Effrem Reed led the scoring with three touchdown runs and 144 yards. Senior quarterback Leon Blouin ran for a 55-yard score and threw a 12-yard touchdown to tight end Max Rought.

Dutchtown head coach Benny Saia called it the team’s most complete game since the opening week when the Griffins topped Lutcher 28-14.
