First day of early voting in Gonzales brisk for Nov. 2 General Election


Voters were in line before the doors opened to begin early voting in Gonzales for the Nov. 2 General Election this morning, Registrar of Voters Robert Poche said.

Poche said turnout on the first day has been great and employees were excited to see it.

In Donaldsonville, voting was slower with only about 30 voters casting a ballot by 2 p.m.

Voting continues thru Tuesday, Oct. 26 from 8:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. with the exception of Sunday, Poche said.

Voters will be voting in the general election for the following:

Lieutenant Governor (1 to be elected)
U. S. Senator (1 to be elected)
U. S. Representative 3rd Congressional District (1 to be elected)
U. S. Representative 6th Congressional District (1 to be elected)
