Ascension Sheriff’s deputies arrested a 45-year-old man early Thursday morning after it was reported that he raped a 12-year-old boy, Chief Deputy Tony Bacala reported.

At about 9 p.m. on Oct. 13, the Sheriff’s Office received a report that the incident had occurred and spoke to the sister of the victim, Bacala said in a news release.

The sister told investigators that she found Pedro Ortega, 45, in her home and heard her brother crying.

The woman asked her brother what had happened and was told that he had been molested by Ortega, according to Bacala.

During the initial investigation, Ortega was identified as the suspect in the case and as the investigation was continuing, Ortega turned himself in, Bacala said.

Ortega, who lives at 42481 Hwy 30, in Gonzales has been charged with aggravated rape and unauthorized entry of an inhabited dwelling.
