Former St. Amant star Wet Delatte has seen playing time for the LSU Tigers as their starting third baseman.

BATON?ROUGE?– A familiar face to Ascension Parish baseball fans has come on strong this season for the LSU Tigers.

Former St. Amant star Wet Delatte has seen playing time for the Tigers as their starting third baseman.

As a redshirt freshman, the Prairieville native started 10 of LSU’s first 12 games at third.

Coach Paul Mainieri experimented with other options at the position as Delatte worked to improve both his hitting and fielding. At first he struggled at the plate and defensively, but lately he has been settling into his role as a starter.

After Mainieri auditioned other players at third, he penciled Delatte back into the position.

Delatte has played in 16 of LSU’s first 19 games. In those appearances he tallied 11 hits, eight runs, two RBIs and a double.

In that time LSU has ranked at or near the top of the polls. The Tigers came into this week with a 16-3 overall record.

LSU’s only Southeastern Conference opponent has been Arkansas. The Tigers are 2-1 in SEC play after the weekend series with the Razorbacks.
