Babin, Bradley Joseph “B.J.”
He was 83, a native of Duplessis and a resident of Gonzales. He passed away at 1:20 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, at Ollie Steele Burden Manor in Baton Rouge. He was justice of the peace for 12 years, a notary and a retired maintenance worker for BASF for 27 years. He served his country in the U.S. Navy as a Seabee in World War II. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales in the chapel on Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Fernando Gutierrez. Burial with military honors in Hope Haven Cemetery, Prairieville.
Berteau, Elfer J. “Rip”
A native of Geismar and a resident of Dutchtown, he died early Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at Ochsner Medical Center in Baton Rouge. He was 89. Interment in Cornerview Cemetery, Gonzales. He proudly served in almost every major naval battle in the U.S. Navy during World War II. In 1942, he was ranked chief petty officer and was the highest ranking enlisted man on board the USS Ancon. His battle citations include Solomon Islands, Sicily, Salerno, Normandy, Manila and Okinawa. Following the war, he was a deputy sheriff in Ascension Parish and was appointed chief deputy for eight years. He later worked and retired from Ormet Corp. as a guard sergeant.
Bosworth, Gerald Arthur
A retired lawyer and a resident of Gonzales, he died Monday, Dec. 22, 2008, in Gonzales. He was 65 and a native of Thibodaux.

A homemaker and a resident and native of Prairieville, she died at 11:45 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008. She was 76. Interment in Community Cemetery in Brittany.

A resident of Gonzales and a native of Port Barre, she passed away on Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008. She was 93. Interment in Lusk Cemetery.
Dempsey, Cathy Marie Harvey
She died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008, at Hospice of Baton Rouge. She was 46, a native of Donaldsonville and a resident of Geismar. Interment in Protestant Cemetery, Donaldsonville.

A native and resident of Gonzales, she passed away at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 27, 2008, while residing at Jefferson Manor Nursing Home in Baton Rouge. She was 74. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 1 p.m. Interment at Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales.

A retired Pre-K school proprietor known as Little Folks Achievement School for 43 years, she passed away at 8:38 p.m. Friday, Dec. 26, 2008, in Baton Rouge. She was 84, a native of Birmingham, Ala., and a resident of Gonzales. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home in Gonzales on Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Visitation resumes at the funeral home on Wednesday, Dec. 31, from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m. Entombment Hope Haven Mausoleum, La.. 30, Gonzales. She was a member of the Gonzales Garden Club and was a tour guide and greeter at Houmas House, Ashland Belle Helene and Tezcuco plantation homes.

He was 80 and died Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at 3:45 a.m. He was a resident of St. Amant and a native of Sunrise. He was a retired U.S. Postal Service carrier in Port Allen and a U.S. Army veteran.
She was 59, a resident of Gonzales, and formerly of Zachary. She passed away at her home on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2008. Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Knoxville, Tenn.
Shelton, Georgette McGalliard
A certified nurse’s assistant, she died at 9:05 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 25, 2008, at Prevost Memorial Hospital in Donaldsonville. She was 77 and a lifelong resident of Donaldsonville. Visiting at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 421 St. Patrick St., Donaldsonville, on Tuesday, Dec. 30, from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Gabriel Otto, celebrant. There will be a recitation of the rosary at 10:15 a.m. Her remains will be cremated at her request after the Mass.

Virdure, Juanita Higginbotham “Mother Dear”
A retired educator with 34 years of service with the Ascension Parish school system, she died at 8:47 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at her home in Baton Rouge. She was 86. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens, Blount Road. She graduated from Southern University Laboratory School, Southern University with a bachelor's and master’s degrees in education, was a member of the Louisiana Teachers Association, New St. Luke Baptist Church choir, Pastor's Aide and Women volunteer, avid NBA, NFL and LSU Tigers sports fan.
Williams, Joseph Anthony “Wolf”
A retired welder and a lifelong resident of Donaldsonville, he died at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. He was 66 and a U.S. Army veteran. Interment in Ascension Catholic Cemetery, Donaldsonville.
