Philippians Church to hold 6 hours of
miracles

Philippians Church will have 6 hours of miracles Wed., Dec. 31 from 7 p.m. until. Food will be served along with a bonfire and firework display. The new location for Philippians Church is 38390 Hwy. 42 in Prairieville. Families are invited to come fellowship with the Philippians Church family. Donut shop open New Years day,
proceeds going to local church

“Thee” Heavenly Donut located at 5830 S. Sherwood Forest, A-1, Baton Rouge,  will be open New Years Day. All proceeds will be given to a local church in Ascension Parish. For more information call 368-0090.

Account set up for local burned boy

Caydan Cockerham, 8, was severely burned over 50 percent of his body Dec. 17. He is the son of Christy Cockerham and is a student at Duplessis.
He will have to stay at the LSU Medical Shriner’s Hospital in Lafayette until after Easter and will need extensive skin grafts and reconstructive surgeries.
An account has been set up to help his family with hospital bills and physical therapy he will have to undergo.

MARS Van to visit library

Have you ever stared into the night sky and wondered what mysteries and adventures can be found in outer space?  This January, the Ascension Parish Library brings the galaxy to you as they welcome Christopher Kersey of the Highland Road Observatory and the MARS outreach van.  Through hands-on activities and experiments, participating children learn about the solar system and the heavenly bodies that inhabit it.  The van is equipped with telescopes participants can use to view the night sky and beyond.
The MARS outreach van is scheduled to visit the Ascension Parish Library in Galvez on Tuesday, Jan. 6.  To give everyone an opportunity to enjoy the experience, the MARS van is scheduled to visit from 5-8 p.m. 
The program and its associated activities are designed for children in grades third to fifth; however, younger siblings are welcome to attend and enjoy the program as well.  To register for the program, contact the Ascension Parish Library in Galvez at 622-3339.

Free Computer Training at the Library

Ascension Parish Library offers the following free computer training seminars during January.   In Gonzales: Jan. 5 – Introduction to Microsoft Word, 10 a.m.; Jan. 6 – Introduction to Microsoft Excel, 6 p.m.; Jan. 15 – Internet Basics, 6 p.m.; Jan. 22 – Introduction to Microsoft PowerPoint, 10 a.m.; Jan. 26 – Job Searching on the Internet, 6 p.m.; Jan. 27 – Discovering Email, 10 a.m.; Jan. 28 – Introduction to Microsoft Publisher, 10 a.m.  In Donaldsonville: Jan. 2 – Introduction to Computers, 10 a.m.  Seminars are free and open to the public and registration is not required.  For more information, call the library at 647-3955 in Gonzales, and at 473-8052 in Donaldsonville.

Next stop, Beyond Belief at the Ascension Parish Library in Donaldsonville.  Come aboard and join in as everyone delve into the unknown with Ripley’s “Believe It Or Not” trivia, a top-secret coloring game, and the latest buzz on the best sci-fi books in the galaxy.  Stardate:  Friday, Jan. 9 at 4 p.m. 
This program is designed for children in third to fifth grade.
