The person with the biggest junker in Ascension Parish may be in luck.
Local officials and business owners are taking nominations for a resident in need of an “Extreme Vehicle Makeover.”

Treads and Care Tire Company, located at 1312 W. Hwy. 30, is putting on the contest. The idea is similar to the premise of several popular television programs, like ABC’s “Extreme Makeover” series and Discovery Channel’s “Monster Garage.” Just like in the shows, someone will be chosen to get their vehicle transformed.

The local community has come together to create its own rendition of the extreme makeover concept. The only requirement is that applicants must be Ascension Parish residents.
Information must be submitted by Jan. 15. The award will be presented Jan. 29, and the winner must be present to accept the grand prize.

To enter, send the following to Treads and Care:

- Applicant and name of person nominating applicant;

- Home address;

- Daytime phone number;

- Year, make and model of vehicle needing makeover;

- Top 5 vehicle repairs that need immediate attention;

- In 150 words of less, tell what makes the situation unique, any community recognition or volunteer work.

Nominations should be sent via fax at 225-744-4619 or e-mail at treadsandcare@gmail.com.
Sponsors are Treads and Care Tire Company, Ascension Parish President Tommy Martinez, Ascension Parish Sheriff Jeff Wiley, Ascension Paint and Body Shop, Mayor Johnny Berthelot, Blues Auto Parts, Moran Construction and Wooden Creations.
