Ascension Parish Sheriff’s deputies arrested a Gonzales man Friday on charges that he molested a juvenile for a three-year period.

According to a release from the department, Charles “Chuck”  Lemieux, 65, 13085 Depen St., Gonzales, was arrested at his home and charged with aggravated incest and molestation of a juvenile, the report reads. He was booked into the Ascension Parish Jail, Bond was set at $100,000.

Officials with the department’s juvenile division began investigating the case after receiving a report July 24 that  Lemieux was allegedly touching a teenage girl inappropriately and otherwise sexually molesting her, Chief Criminal Deputy Tony Bacala said.

The victim also told detectives that  Lemieux told her of his intentions to engage in sexual intercourse with her when she turned 16 years old, Bacala said.

Until recently,  Lemieux was the director of the Web site “In Ascension Parish,” which listed issues he considered as problems in the parish, state and nation.  Lemieux recently posted a message on his site that he would no longer be able to maintain the page.

“It is with regret that I will no longer be able to continue with this Web site,” the statement reads. “Do to illness in the family and my health I can no longer find time to maintain the site. I will keep the Web site but there is little chance that I will ever have the opportunity to make it active again. I will however try to pass along e-mails I receive describing problems in the parish.”

Lemieux operated the site for eight years to “inform Ascension Parish residents about our parish government, or the lack of it, and other incidents we feel concern their best interest.”

Issues he discussed in postings on the site included illegal aliens living in Ascension Parish, parish road conditions, crime and politics, among others.
A dedication on the site states that it’s mission is to honor  “our daughter Anna, a victim of the deplorable road conditions that exist in Ascension Parish ignored for years and still to this day by parish government.”

Lemieux’s daughter died in a one-vehicle accident in 1998.

Lemieux also once filed suit against the Ascension Parish School Board for holding classes in the Dutchtown Middle School gymnasium to address overcrowding at the school. The suit was later dismissed in district court.
