Fort Polk, La. -

The war on terrorism continues to take a toll on soldiers from Fort Polk, as another patriot's life was claimed in Baghdad.

The Department of Defense announced Tuesday that Pvt. Janelle Franshawn King, 23, of Merced, Calif., died on Aug.14 in Iraq from a non-combat-related cause.

King was a health care specialist assigned to the 115th Combat Support Hospital. King joined the Army in May 2007 and arrived at Fort Polk in January 2008.

Circumstances surrounding the soldier's death remain under investigation.
