Ascension Parish high school rodeo stars Randi Robert, barrel racer; Tyler Waguespack, steer wrestler; and bull rider Jacob O’Mara are competing in the Louisiana High School Rodeo Association state championship finals at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.
They will be joined by other area high schoolers, including Clint Myers, Shelby Goodwin, Josh Arceneaux, Grant Smith, Caleb Lavigne and Cody Cohoon.
The top four contestants in each rodeo contest will represent Louisiana in the High School National Finals in Farmington, New Mexico in August.
Tickets for the events Friday are $7, and $8 for the championship round Saturday.
Competitive events begin at 7 p.m.
