BATON ROUGE – Governor Bobby Jindal announced that Mary Gauthier-Lewis, of Prairieville has been reapointed to the Medicaid Pharmaceutical and Therapeutics Committee that serves to develop and maintain a legal pharmacopoeia, a list of preferred drugs, for Louisiana.

The pharmacopoeia is publicly available and is formulated after evidence-based analysis of each drug.

Gauthier-Lewis is the assistant dean at the University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Pharmacy. She was nominated for reappointment by the University of Louisiana at Monroe College of Pharmacy to serve as a pharmacist, as required by statute.

According to the statute, the committee is comprised of 21 members including the secretary of the Department of Health and Hospitals, the director of the Medicaid program in the Department of Health and Hospitals, the president of the Senate, the speaker of the House of Representatives or their designees. The remaining 17 members are gubernatorial appointments, subject to senate confirmation.
