State Fire Marshal Butch Browning has issued a ban on burning for the entire state beginning today.
The ban began today at 4 p.m. and will remain in effect until rescinded.
Browning, a former Gonzales fire chief, issued the ban due to extremely dry conditions throughout Louisiana.
Private burning will only be allowed by permission of local fire departments or local governments.
