LIVINGSTON – The Baton Rouge White Sox took advantage of an early three-run home run and held on for a 7-5 victory over Gauthier and Amedee Post 81 at Doyle High School Wednesday evening.
It was Gautreau - Williams Post 81’s seventh game in six days after participating in the University of West Florida Showcase this past weekend and playing a doubleheader at the University of Southern Mississippi Tuesday.
Gauthier and Amedee (16-4-1) also played four games in the B.E.S.T. Baseball Classic June 19-20 at the University of Louisiana Tech and the University of Louisiana Monroe.
Post 81’s Micah Gautreau took the loss Wednesday surrendering three runs on three hits and one walk striking out two in four innings. White Sox starter Jordan Meisner picked up the win.
Adam Trahan lined a two-out triple to the right gap off Meisner in the top of the first inning but was left stranded.
Gautreau hit the first batter he faced, Kendall Hines and Jonathan Smith reached on an error but left fielder Matt Willis threw out Hines at third to Jesse Buratt. Brandon Simon grounded pass short and one out later Anthony Dilligard launched a three-run shot over the left fence to put Baton Rouge ahead 3-0. Gautreau hit Dustin Ardoin but struckout Bray Williams to end the inning.
Meisner hit back to back batters, Anthony Bonadona and Matt Richard with two outs in the top of the third after he and Gautreau retired the previous eight batters in order. Third baseman Dylan Drake missed a tag along the base path and threw high on Marcus Bailey’s grounder to put Gauthier and Amedee on the board. Meisner struckout Trahan to end the inning.
Richard’s diving catch in centerfield allowed Gautreau to retire the side in order in the bottom half.
Buratt led off the fourth inning with a slow roller pass Meisner and scored on Britt Gautreaux’s liner to center after a pass ball. Gautreaux stole second after Meisner struckout Kenny Wilkins but was left stranded on Lee Elisar’s line out to second and Willis’ grounder to third.
Simon grounded down the third base line to open the bottom half and Gautreau walked Grant Costillo.
Gauthier and Amedee fell 1-0 to Mississippi Elite Tuesday before rebounding for an 8-1 victory.
Post 81 opened the weekend tournament with a 7-7 tie against Florida USA Friday. Gautreau – Williams went on to defeat Mobile 4 Runners 12-2 and the North Florida Hurricanes 12-0 Saturday before ousting North East Baseball 13-2 Sunday at Pensacola Junior College.
Gauthier and Amedee opened the Louisiana Invitational with a 12-8 victory over the Texas Dukes and a 9-4 win over Louisiana All-Stars June 19 at Louisiana Tech. Post 81 returned to the diamond June 20 to defeat Louisiana Aces 7-6 before falling to the Texas Naturals 14-6 at ULM.
