Ascension Chamber to host co-ed recreation softball tournament event

The Ascension Chamber of Commerce and member business Harry & David have partnered to bring Ascension Parish its first Softball Tournament, featuring teams comprised of local business Chamber members.


Participating businesses will compete for bragging rights Saturday, June 21 at St. Amant Park located at 45404 Stringer Bridge Rd. The co-ed recreation tournament will begin at 8 a.m. and is free and open to the public.

In addition to the tournament, there will be free games for children including spacewalks donated by JJ’s Spacewalks, a rock climbing wall provided by the Louisiana National Guard, face painting and more. Local band La1 will be playing at the park’s recreation center from noon to 4 p.m. Food vendors and sponsors will include Louis DeAngelo’s, St. Elizabeth Physicians, EATEL, Air Products & Chemicals, the Jambalaya Festival Association, Treads & Care Tire Company, Baton Rouge Coca Cola, McDonalds, Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers and Cox Communications. The public will also be able to enter two raffle drawings for a Durapella recliner, donated by Ashley Furniture, and a Brinkmann four-burner gas grill with a side burner, donated by Home Depot. Tournament T-shirts will also be available.

Cost to register a team is $300, and the team must be sponsored by an Ascension Chamber member. For more information, contact the chamber office at 647-7487 or e-mail info@ascensionchamber.com.
