The Louisiana High School Rodeo Association is holding the Dodge 59th Annual Louisiana High School Finals Rodeo and Trade Show June 15-23 at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.


The top 36 contestants in each of 13 different rodeo events will vie for the right to represent Louisiana at the National High School Finals Rodeo to be held in July in Farmington, NM.

In addition, these high school athletes will be competing for over $40,000 in prizes and more than $15,000 in college scholarships.

Rodeo events include Bareback Riding, Barrel Racing, Saddle Bronc, Pole Bending, Tie-down Roping, Goat Tying, Steer Wrestling, Break-away Roping, Bull Riding, Team Roping, Boys’ and Girls’ Cutting and a Queen Contest.

Trade show vendors include sellers of items from jewelry to housewares and lawn equipment to horse trailers. A stick horse rodeo arena will be available in the trade building for smaller children. Numerous other activities will be taking place, including a dog costume show.

The public is encouraged to attend and participate.

Admission is $6 for rodeo events on the nights of June 15-19, $7 for events the night of June 22 and $8 for the championship performance June 23. Admission to the trade show is free.
