LAKE D’ARBONNE — Better crappie fishing has been below the spillway fishing shiners on spider rigs. Crappie fishing has been fair on the flats on suspended fish with shiners and jigs picking up some fish. Look for the bass to be hitting some around the grass using fake frogs, Wobbleheads and soft plastic worms and lizards. Early mornings, topwater lures and buzz baits are taking some fish. Bream have slowed a bit but catfish never seem to stop biting using cold worms or night crawlers around the lake. LAKE CLAIBORNE — Bass fishing has been fair during the days fishing crank baits and plastic worms around the deeper brush. However, it’s a different story at night. Lots of bass and stripers are hitting crank baits fished fast around the submerged green lights located around the lake. Keith Johnson and David Seabaugh caught quite a few one night this week on Bomber crank baits around the lights as well as some bass around lighted piers. Crappie fishing has been fair to good fishing jigs 12-15 feet deep in 20 foot water. Bream are slow; catfishing is fair on trotlines and rods and reels. CANEY LAKE — Bass fishing has been fair to good fishing Ole Monster Worms in Candy Bug or June Bug colors as well as crank baits around the submerged brush tops located on the ridges in 12-20 foot water. Early mornings, try fishing around the grass on the Whopper Plopper and Yellow Magic topwater lures along with the Spro-frog. Crappie are slow to fair on shiners or jigs fished around deep structure.
