Over the past 30 days I have emailed council District 7 Councilman Chris Loar twice via www.ascensionparish.net, neither of which resulted in a response.
My most recent request was to schedule a district town hall meeting to inform and respond to the impact of current issues relative to our district. On such issues as creation of an east side utility district (where by a vote of the Parish Council a “fee” will be applied to every homeowner’s and business utility bills), bridge repair at Henry Road and Hwy. 73, purchase of Lamar-Dixon (voted “no” by District 7 precincts, but voted “yes” by Councilman Loar at the Parish Council) and a proposed parkway from Sunshine Bridge to I-12. The taxpayers in District 7 know few specifics of these proposals nor of the impact, positive or negative, on our district.
Since taking office January 2008, the only communication from Councilman Loar has been the issue of a 2008 Parish Progress Report to his constituents. For parish progress I will not hesitate to contact the Parish President. For council District 7 concerns we need to interface with our elected councilman.
