According to the National Center on Elder Abuse, the definition of elder abuse refers to intentional or negligent acts by a caregiver or “trusted” individual that causes (or potentially causes) harm to a vulnerable elder.

As we reach that enviable time in our lives when we retire from the everyday workplace, oftentimes we lose track of the day or the week.

On Jan. 19, 2008, our oldest son Robert B. Alexis came up missing. His truck was found about three miles from our home. The truck was found in a ditch on Beco Road in St. Amant. We were told that two police units saw the truck that Saturday morning and said nothing until 10:45 p.m. Sunday night when an officer called us.
