The Emmanuel Baptist Church family invites the public to join us as we celebrate our Gospel Festival on Saturday, Sept. 6, starting at 10 a.m. We are asking choirs, dance, or drill team to come out and take part of this fun filled day.

While watching the June 19 meeting of the Ascension Parish Council, it came to my attention that the Boy Scouts could not afford the $1,000 rental fee at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center for their day camp this year. However, the scouts were able to have a successful event at the Ascension Civic Center in Sorrento in spite of the problems with the water well and complications with the toilets.
I don't usually write a letter to the editor,but I felt I had to this time, since our beloved governor and our legislature are sticking it to us. Our governor doesn't have the guts to veto the legislative pay raise bill. I voted for him last election, but I will vote for Blanco before I vote for him again.
