Virgil James LeBlanc
Virgil was born Dec. 1, 1944, in Gonzales to Shafter and Clementine Laiche LeBlanc. He died Sunday, May 31, 2009. He was retired from BASF/Wyandotte with 30-plus years of service. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966. He served as fire chief of the Prairieville Volunteer Fire Department in 1979, as president from 1981 to 1982, and in 1997, was given the honor of a lifetime membership. Survived by his wife of 25 years, Gloria Jean Knight LeBlanc; son, James and wife Hope LeBlanc; daughter, Sherrie and husband John Jenkins; Louise, the mother of his children; stepdaughter, Aline and husband Kenneth Lemoine; 10 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; sisters, Learlin, Cornelia, Bobbie, Lydia and Veronica; and numerous nephews and nieces. In addition to his parents, Virgil was preceded in death by his brother, Melvin. The wake was at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, was Tuesday, June 2. Visitation was at St. Mark Catholic Church on Wednesday from 8:30 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Entombment in Hope Haven Cemetery Mausoleum, Gonzales. After the burial, family and friends gathered for a celebration of Virgil’s life at the St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department on Stringer Bridge Road. A notary public and secretary for Latino Motors, she died at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, in an automobile accident on La. 1, Belle Rose. She was 28, a resident of Belle Rose and a native of Houma. Interment in the St. Martin Catholic Church Cemetery.

A glass technician with Donaldsonville Glass, he died at 1:50 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2009, in an automobile accident on La. 1, Belle Rose. He was 28, a resident of Belle Rose and native of Baton Rouge. Interment in St. Jules Catholic Church Cemetery.
