Callais, Paul Abdon
Paul Abdon Callais, 39, born in Golden Meadow and resident of Gonzales,  was lost at sea Wednesday, June 25, 2008.  A memorial service will be held at St. Theresa Catholic Church in Gonzales Friday, July 11, 2008. Family visitation will be at 9:30 a.m.; a Mass will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. A memorial service will also be held at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church in Golden Meadow Saturday, July 12, 2008. Family visitation will be at 10 a.m.; a mass will follow at 11 a.m. Paul is survived by his wife, Danielle LeBlanc Callais, and their children Christopher, Claire and Caitlyn; his mother Gloria Bienvenu Callais; three brothers and their families:  Charles Michael, Blanche, Leah and Rachel; Corey, Tina, Harold, II and Nicholas; Peter, Monica, Justin, Isaac, and Noah. He was preceded in death by his father Harold Joseph Callais; grandparents Abdon Callais and Ada Bruce Callais; C. Thomas Bienvenu Sr. and Isaure Blanchard Bienvenu. Paul’s professional affiliations included: President and Chief Executive Officer of United Community Bank, Board of Directors of Community Bank in Raceland, formerly American Bank in Welch and Citizens Progressive Bank in Columbia. He received the distinction of being named to the “Top 40 Under 40” by the Baton Rouge Business Report in 2002.  His civic affiliations include the Gonzales Rotary Club, Past President of the Golden Meadow Rotary Club, the Executive Council of Istrouma Area of the Boy Scouts of America, and served as a 4th degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Paul obtained a Masters of Business Administration degree from Tulane University, an undergraduate degree from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is also a graduate of the Louisiana School of Banking directed by the Louisiana Bankers Association and the LSU Graduate School of Banking. Paul completed Leadership Lafourche and Leadership Ascension programs. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the:  Von Hippel Lindau Family Alliance, 2001 Beacon Street, Suite 208, Boston, MA  02135-7877.

Daigle, Margaret Barbier “Nanny”       
She passed away at 7:52 p.m. Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at her home in Prairieville following a battle with cancer. She was born on July 29, 1937, in White Castle, and was a former resident of Baton Rouge. Visitation at St. Mark Catholic Church, 42021 La. 621, Gonzales, on Friday, July 11, from 8 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Joel Labauve, celebrant. Interment in St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery, Paincourtville. She was of Christian faith.

Garantine, John Edward   
A native of Plaquemine, he died at Gonzales Health Care Center on Monday, July 7, 2008, at 11 p.m. He was 80. Burial in Faithful United Methodist Cemetery, Lake.

Hoffman, Alice Blanchard        
A homemaker and a resident of Gonzales, she passed away Monday evening, July 7, 2008, at her home. She was 50 and a native of Pierre Part.  Inurnment in the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church Cemetery, Pierre Part.

Landry Jr., Thomas Benton “T.B.”
A resident of Gonzales and a native of Burton, he passed away on Friday, July 4, 2008, at his home. He was 91. He was the former owner of Landry's Pharmacy in Gonzales. He was a 1940 graduate of Loyola University. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a captain in the Army Medical Corps in France and Germany. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Jeanette Ambeau Landry; four daughters and three sons-in-law, Rebecca “Becky” and Edward Swindell, Elizabeth “Beth” Landry and Bill Sailers, Belinda and Joe Veillon, and Bridgette Simoneaux; four sons and three daughters-in-law, James “Buzzy” and Martha Landry, Joseph “Benny” Landry, William “Bill” and Amy Landry, and Robert “Bob” and Dena Landry; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Visiting was at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Sunday, July 6, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation was at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Gonzales, on Monday from 9 a.m. until Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Gary Belsome officiating. Interment in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales. He was preceded in death by his parents, Thomas B. Sr. and Odelia Daigle Landry; and a granddaughter, Lisette Corinne Veillon. He was a member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus 4th degree, lifetime member of Gautreau/Williams American Legion Post 81 and Knights of Anubis. He held an honorary doctorate of pharmacy from Loyola University. He served on the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy and was a member of the Louisiana Pharmacy Association. He was also a member of the National Association of Retail Druggists. Memorial donations may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 5215 Essen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70809 or to St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, School, 212 E. New River St., Gonzales, LA 70737.

Melancon, Lucille B.
A native of Gonzales, she died Tuesday, July 8, 2008, at her home in Gonzales. She was 94. Interment in Hope Haven Cemetery.

McCrory Jr. Paul Joseph (Infant)        
Paul Joseph McCrory Jr., born June 30, 2008, was the infant son of Paul Joseph McCrory Sr. and Kasey Courtney, both of Gonzales. He went to be with the Lord on Sunday, July 6, 2008.  Interment in Cornerview Cemetery.
