AARP Chapter 1449 to host panel discussion
AARP Chapter 1449 will host a panel discussion with healthcare professional, Dr. Kevin Stephens, health director for the city of New Orleans at 11 a.m. on June 26 at Lewis Hall, 2337 S. Robert Wilson Road, Gonzales. He will discuss lifestyle changes that people can control to help live a free and healthy life.
VFW Bingo Hall close Friday and Saturday
The VFW 3693 Bingo Hall will be closed Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27 for their summer convention. The members are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.
Benefit garage sale Saturday
The Classy Ladies Social Club is hosting a benefit garage sale Saturday, June 27, from 6 a.m.-noon. It will be held at 13248 Oak Knoll Drive Geismar in the Lakes at Dutchtown subdivision.

Afternoon with art for youth offered
Want to use your creativity on those lazy, hazy days of summer? Terry Farrell is offering Art Instruction for youth ages 8-14, July 1, July 8 and July 15 on Wednesday afternoon from 4-5 p.m. at the River Region Community Art Center in Gonzales located at 1835 N. Magnolia Ave., just off Airline Highway. Class fee is $45 with all supplies furnished. Farrell offers a fun way to express yourself with art. Registration is at the Center or call 225-644-8496.
Sports memorabilia to be evaluated
Freddie Phillips, president of Premier Auction Services and member of the Certified Appraisers Guild of America, will evaluate sports memorabilia and small electronic gaming devices on Saturday, July 11 at the library.
The session starts at 10 a.m. Time restrictions limit the number of people that can be seen, so registration is required. Call the Galvez branch at 225-622-3339 to set up an appointment.
