LIVINGSTON – A vehicle driven by a St. Amant woman was involved in a one-car accident in which a passenger was killed around 12:30 a.m. Thursday morning.

Aimee White, 33, was driving a 2008 Nissan Altima east on Hwy 63 west of Renniger Road when she ran off the road to the right, spokesperson TFC Russell Graham said in a release.

The vehicle began to rotate clockwise as it left the roadway and struck a culvert, then rolled and came to rest on its roof, according to troopers.

White was wearing a seat belt and suffered minor injuries, Graham said.

Her passenger, John Thompson, 44, of Walker, was not restrained and suffered fatal injuries in the crash. The Livingston Parish Coroner’s Office pronounced Thompson deceased at the scene, according to Graham.

White was impaired and troopers arrested her on the scene, Graham said.
Acadian Ambulance transported her to Ochsner Hospital in Baton Rouge.

Upon her release from the hospital, White will be booked into the Livingston Parish Jail on charges of vehicular homicide, DWI, careless operation, and open container, Graham said.

Troopers submitted a sample of White’s blood to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for chemical analysis.

Louisiana State Troopers continue to see tragic injuries and deaths every day throughout the state on our roadways, Graham said. The deadly combination of impaired drivers and lack of seat belt use continues to be a common factor in these injuries and deaths.
