PHOTOS: Spartans, Gators come together for annual 'Shout Out'

East Ascension High School students battle St. Amant High School students in the annual Spartan-Gator Shout Out Thursday night at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.

The communities of East Ascension and St. Amant high schools joined together Thursday night for the annual Spartan-Gator Shout Out at the Lamar-Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales.
Originally set for an outdoor location, the event had to be moved due to rain.
The pep rally culminated with a shouting match to determine the winner of the coveted Spirit Stick. This time, the Spartan faithful took home the stick.
Cheer and dance squads, bands, students, school staff and many others from the two communities turned out for the unique - and loud - event.
East Ascension and St. Amant will meet on the football field Friday night at 7 p.m. in Spartan Stadium for a District 6-5A game.
