ST. AMANT – The St. Amant Volunteer Fire Department will hold the Second Annual “Rockin the River” Festival at Rat Stock Saturday at the Jimmy Babin Complex at the end of Bayou Terrace from 11 a.m. till.
Bands that will perform include Southern Express, One Nite Only, BillBoard Band and Side Effects. There will also be jumping balloons and slides for children, as well as the first Diversion Canal Idol with Peppermint Patti Karaoke and a large fireworks display by Gator Fireworks and sponsored by EATEL. There will also be a Campaign Alley for all candidates for political office to display signage at a cost of $50.
Admission is $5 for adults and $2 for children, with proceeds going to help the department build a new station on the Diversion Canal. The department has the land donated for the site, with a fire truck also coming through a donation from a station in LaPlace. The department has received some state funding to help build the station.
The goal for Saturday’s event is between $10,000 and $15,000.
