A retired truck driver and mechanic with Haynes & McCoin Motor Line, he died Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, in Gonzales, at age 86. He was a resident of Prairieville, native of Hope Villa and U.S. Navy veteran. Interment in Community Cemetery, Prairieville.
Gautreau, Geraldine Duplessis “Deanie”
A resident of Gonzales, she died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center. She was 66. An all-night visitation will be held at Ascension Funeral Home, 426 W. New River St., Gonzales, from 5 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 29, until 10:30 a.m. Friday. The Rev. Jon Koehler will be the celebrant of the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, St. Amant. Burial in the church cemetery.
Jackson, William Haydel
A retired substance-abuse counselor, he died at 1 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at Heritage House. He was 67 and a resident and native of Baton Rouge. Visiting at North Boulevard Macedonia Full Gospel Church on Friday, Oct. 30, from 8:30 a.m. until religious service at 10 a.m. Interment in Southern Memorial Gardens.
Johnson Sr., Herman Wilbert “Old Paw Paw”
A native and resident of Donaldsonville, he died at 9:55 a.m. Friday, Oct. 23, 2009, at D’Ville House Nursing Home, Donaldsonville. He was 91 and was a member of Nazarene Baptist Church, Supreme Council of Louisiana AASRFM, Tabernacle Chapter 32 of Order of Eastern Star, and Veteran of Foreign Wars Post 3766. The funeral service will be at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Donaldsonville, Friday, Oct. 30. Visiting will be from 9:30 a.m. until the religious service at 11 a.m. Interment in church cemetery.
Thomassie, Johnny Gerard
A quality-control specialist, he died at 6:05 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Gonzales. He was 50 and a resident of Gonzales. He was a 1977 graduate of East Ascension High School and played the saxophone for 40 years, most recently with LA Sunshine Band.
