Cannon Jr., Joseph Calvin “Jody”       
He died at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at Ollie Steele Burden Manor’s Butterfly Wing. He was 38, a resident of St. Amant and a native of Baton Rouge. Visitation at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Friday, June 13, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Visitation at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until service at 1 p.m. Interment in Richardson Cemetery, St. Amant.


Stephens, Daniel Claudell

Funeral services were held June 11, 2008 for Claudell Stephens, 90, of Silver Creek, Miss. He was a 3-month-long resident of Harvest Manner Nursing Home in Denham Springs. Services were held at Wilson Funeral Home in Monticello, Miss.  Interment was held at the Stephens Family Cemetery with full military honors. Mr. Stephens was a native of Lawrence County. He was the son of Daniel and Missy Herrington Stephens. Claudell was a lifetime member of the Crooked Creek Baptist Church that he dearly loved. He was also a U.S. Army Veteran. He was an oil-field worker in his younger days and later retired from the Pipefitters Union. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two sisters and one brother. He is survived by three children, daughters and sons-in-law, Claudia and Ronnie Hebert of Gonzales, and Theresa and Aaron Adams of St. Amant, and one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Stacy Stephens of St. Amant; five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He is also survived by five brothers and three sisters all of his beloved Silver Creek area. Daddy, we love you and know now that you are walking with Jesus.
    
Diez Sr., Levy       
The retired owner of Sign Craft Co., he died at 1:14 p.m. Tuesday, June 10, 2008, at his home in Gonzales. He was 76, a U.S. Air Force veteran and a native of Cornerview. Visiting at Ourso Funeral Home, Gonzales, on Friday from 9 a.m. until religious service at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Raymond Wade. Interment in Hope Haven Cemetery, Gonzales. 


Labbé, Barry Louis       
Barry Louis Labbé was born Oct. 4, 1933. He died at his home in Denham Springs at 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, June 8, 2008, after a long battle with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. He was spiritually ministered to by loving members of Hebron Baptist Church. He was a Sunday school teacher, prayer group facilitator, choir member, Biblical character portrayer and a Gideon. A man who found it easy to obey his Lord’s greatest commandment: Love one another. In the later months he was under the care of numerous individuals associated with Amedisys Hospice services, most notably Leslie Kinney. Barry was born in Norco and resided there until he attended LSU. He was a member of the 82nd Airborne Division and a member of the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves. He was also an employee of DSM Copolymer Rubber &. Chemical Corp. His family and his home were his main hobbies; however, he was also involved with the Arabian Horse Association of Louisiana and served throughout the southeastern United States as horse show announcer. Barry is survived by his wife, Carolyn Kiper Labbé; son, Ryan Michael Labbé, his wife, Aimee Landry Labbé, and their two children, Madison and Sean Luke; his youngest son, Sean Matthew Labbé; two daughters, Monique Lange, and her sons, Peyton and Preston, and Michelle Wadleigh and her daughter, Ashley, and son, Tristen; brother, John Labbé and his wife, Gail; and sisters, Charmaine “Boots” Labbé, and Collette “Peche” Radecker and her husband, Clarence. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gaston Louis Labbé, who was of Broussard, and mother, Alfletta “Flip” Mire, who was of Gonzales. Memorial service will be at Hebron Baptist Church on La. 16, Denham Springs, on Friday, June 13, at 3 p.m.

Malbreaugh Sr., Clofer Lee “Sonny”   
C.L. Malbreaugh Sr., 82, died Sunday, June 8, 2008, at Lane Regional Medical Center, Zachary. He was a native of Galvez and a longtime resident of Baker. He was a veteran of World War II. He loved to fish and hunt all of his life.
