BATON ROUGE – A Prairieville man was seriously injured Monday morning on Airline Highway near Siegen Lane when he crashed on a motorcycle, according to Louisiana State Police.

Robert R. Prewitt, 54, was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson north on Airline Highway, south of Siegen Lane, shortly after 10 a.m. when the vehicles ahead of him in the left northbound lane braked suddenly, police said.

Prewitt applied the brakes, began to skid, lost control, ran off the road into the median and was ejected, according to troopers.

Acadian Ambulance transported Prewitt to Our Lady of the Lake Hospital, where he remains in critical condition, police said.

Troopers do not suspect alcohol to have been a factor in the crash.
